Two Days in the South Downs

We stopped in the South Downs for a couple of nights, giving ourselves a chance to settle into the truck and spend some time exploring on foot.

The first evening was wet and grey, but by the following afternoon the rain had moved through and the landscape had completely changed. We headed out in the opposite direction from the night before, following the fences across the downs through dry grass, cattle fields and long views towards the coast.

From up high, the landscape becomes a patchwork of fields, tracks and hedgerows. Windward was often still visible in the distance, slowly getting smaller as we walked.

These first few days are less about covering distance and more about getting used to travelling this way. Parking somewhere for a couple of nights, walking out from the truck, taking photographs and seeing what is around us.

A fairly simple start, but exactly the sort of thing we built it for.
