A walk through Corfe Castle

On our way back from Kimmeridge towards Reading, we stopped at Corfe Castle. We’d been through this part of Dorset before, but this time we went up into the ruins with our cameras.
From below, the broken towers dominate the hill. Inside, the castle feels less like one grand structure and more like a series of walls, openings and paths, each revealing another view. I started by photographing the stone in black and white, drawn to its texture and the shapes it makes against the sky.
As we wandered further in, I turned my camera towards Fernanda and the landscape beyond the walls. Looking out through an old window, the village and fields seemed to stretch in every direction.
We took our time finding our way through the ruins. These photographs follow that walk, from the first glimpse through the entrance arch to the path leading us back down.
