Among the rocks at Kimmeridge Bay

Getting to Kimmeridge Bay in our truck was part of the adventure. The lanes grew narrower as we got closer, and we took the last stretch slowly, wondering what we’d find when the sea came into view.

We spent the day exploring the bay and photographing its layers of rock, worn by the water into shapes and patterns. It’s a place that rewards looking down as much as looking out. Every few steps, the shoreline seemed to change.

We couldn’t stay at the beach overnight, so this was a one-day visit. That suited us in the end. We wandered as far as we wanted, stopped whenever something caught my eye, and took our time on the way back through the little lanes.

These photographs are a record of that day: the coast, the details underfoot, and the pleasure of finding somewhere that made us slow down.
